Chicago Makes the (wrong) Cut
As Eric & Atif stack their 6 thousandth mile in the city of both the shadiest man in America (R. Kelly) & the most admirable (Barack Obama), I felt it appropriate to drop a related news bulletin (slash editorial). Honestly, Chicago's fashion and style has never reached a level enough to pique my interest. This year stands to do no better as Pete Wentz attempts to save the day by launching Chi-town's 4th Annual (only?) Fashion Week. Though the week is entitled "Fashion Focus Chicago" I really hope they don't focus on Pete's own Clandestine Industries clothing line which conveniently launches its Chicago store this week. A visit to their site ( www.clandestineindustries.com) quickly uncovers Pete's models rocking logo tees and hoodies with outfits straight outta your local Urban Outfitters. I can't hate on UO too much, I mean, it has its gems but c'mon. Unfortunately, as much as we kick and scream against more celebrity clothing lines, they are far from over. As long as we have a Nicky Hilton or a Spencer (from the Hills) bored and looking for something to do, there will always be a celebrity clothing line. Every once in a while, amidst everyone biting each other off, a celebrity line worth noting will arise. Nothing comes to mind... but I have faith we'll see a genuinely creative celebrity line soon enough, and it will be sold in one of the respectable Chicago boutiques (i.e. Solemates). Afterall, piracy leads innovation, right? Labels: Chi-town, Clothing Lines, News

The Homie Sale
So everyone has that one homie who has looked out for you, probably more times than he should have. You know, the homie who carried your blacked out ass back from the bar, let you crash his spot much longer than you should have, or loaned you some loot that you still need to pay back. So here's an opportunity to show some love, no homo. For a limited time, Vane is offering any tee/tank from the Alpha Collection for you and your homie, both for only for 25 bucks. The stipulation is that you have to send us your homie's contact info, be it an e-mail, a phone number, or a mailing address, so your greedy ass cant have both the items. Vane will holler at your homie and hook em up with a tee/tank of their choice. As Vane gears up to enter retail for the Spring 07, we want to extend our Family, and make this Vane Movement official. Dont forget to put your homies info in the additional comments section during check out. The following tees are available: Labels: News

Vane Bling
Over the weekend, we shot our Spring 07 Lookbook. Big ups to Nastassia Davis, our incredibly talented photographer [peep her work at http://aarika.deviantart.com/], and our boys Mo, Baltra and Poo for beasting the coldest day of the year, rocking Vane Tees in the frigid ass weather. Man, I was cold for you guys, and believe that I thank yall from the bottom of my heart. Respect.
We also got our jewelry sample which we made with jeweler Gregg Wolff, and the final production piece will be dropping with the rest of our Spring gear. It's a mixed religion piece, fusing the Islamic Moon, the Jewish Star, and the Christian Cross in one pendant, with "WE ARE ALL VANE" engraved on the side. Believe me kids, this is not a game. Expect all kinds of fire as we keep things rolling, and we will take all yall along for the ride. Labels: News

So how did Roxy go?
So the “back to school bash” at Roxy was definitely an entirely new party experience for us. The crowd and the ambiance were different from any other event we've participated in but we had a fun time catching up with all you kids going back to school – our high school years feels like they were ages away, even though it really has not been that long. Pictures from the event can be found in our Life section (thanks to our photographers, Nas & Inna). We put together a sexy looking booth, complete with posters, sexy VANEladies, and our standard showcase of covering any available wall space with our merchandise. The reason we chose to be involved with this event was to show support for Folk & Stress, two brothers from Long Island, who put on a hell of a show at Roxy. We met DJ Folk, aka Justin Nealis, through a separate Vane project a few months ago. He was feeling us from the start and told us of his musical endeavor and played some clips for us, but obviously nothing compares to a live show. They were rocking our tees on stage, much love here. Folk & Stress will soon be featured in our WE ARE VANE section, where we will profile emerging artists, musicians, and overall cool cats. For now, listen to their beats here, and don't forget to drop by and say what’s up to us. We chilled with DJ Green Lantern and his entourage, The Invasion Group, while he was spinning. We've liked his work ever since he got down with Immortal Technique. One of his boys put on a Teal Manhattan Project and walked off in it after the show. Wonder where the night took him… Everyone’s looking forward to next Friday, Sept 8, when we throw a birthday bash for Megalicious, our PR superstar. Stay tuned for details. Labels: News
